The restaurant

In the early 80s the homestead of Vandamme and Koopman family has been restored to be reopened as beer retailer. from the start in June 1983 the attention was drawn to our rich beer heritage. Many beers were offered with a shrill of pork or a good equiped sandwich; 't Rusteel was born!

With over 300 different beers we were real trendsetters. Very soon were ribs with potatoes on the menu, as well as the first in the region with classics as 'spaghetti', and we continued to grow. The concept was a big hit, but the passion for beer reared its head, already in 1985 an own beer was brewn. A real Flemish red-brown with smoked whiskey malt for an old Vlassers craft in Gullegem; Vlaskapelle.

It is also logic that our first blonde beer is named after the Netebuk. The legend has its origins here in the Heule-stream valley just as our original homestead. That is why we support the conservation project Heerlijke Heulebeek (Delicious Heule-stream).

Over the years, the passion grew and beer concept was extended to better beer bistro with its own brewery, the Gulden Spoor (Golden Spur). In 2001, the first home-brewed gallons flowed out of our test installation. Not even two years later a complete brewhouse was purchased with matching beer fermenters. Already in 2007, a larger facility was purchased again and meanwhile is everything moved to a new complete new building with a look to further developments.
